Two goals from
Jessica LaPlaca highlighted the St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team, as they fell to No. 1 Middlebury, 18-2, in Middlebury, Vt. on Wednesday evening.
SLU drops to 4-7 on the season, as the Panthers remain undefeated at 12-0
Kelsey O'Brien led the team in caused turnovers with three. O'Brien also picked up four ground balls along with
Brigette Gable and LaPlaca.
The Panthers took control of the entire first half, shutting out the Saints and scoring twelve unanswered goals to obtain a 12-0 heading into halftime.
LaPlaca got the Saints on the board to kick off the second half to cut the deficit to 11, but the Panthers added another two goals to get their lead up to 13. LaPlaca once again found the back of the net to make it a twelve-goal game, until Alexandra Walker put one more goal in for Middlebury to make it 15-2.
In the final quarter, the Panthers held the Saints scoreless, as they added three more to their total, resulting in them picking up the 18-2 win.
Zoe Froimovitz had seven saves for the Scarlet and Brown and Elizabeth Savage matched her with seven saves for the Panthers.
St. Lawrence returns to action Saturday, April 12th at 3 p.m. when they take on Rochester in Liberty League play to kick off their four-game home stretch at North Country Field in Canton, N.Y.
