Baseball Drops Regular Season Finale at Rochester

Daniel Verrastro and Ethan Harris drove in runs for the Saints, but the St. Lawrence University baseball team fell in their regular season finale, 19-3, against Rochester in Rochester, N.Y.

St. Lawrence fell to 11-23 on the year and 6-11 in Liberty League play, while the Yellowjackets improved to 16-15 and 10-8 in league action.

Rochester had their bats going early, scoring four runs in the first three innings of the contest. The Saints cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the fourth in an inning that began with a Brett Federico single. Verrastro plated the first run with a sacrifice fly, while later in the inning, Eoin Morrissey singled to center and Jack Finnegan scored thanks to an error in the field.

The Yellowjackets ballooned their lead to 7-2 in the top of the fifth, and an 11-run top of the sixth put the game away.
After an hour-long rain delay, Rochester scored their final run in the seventh before Harris singled home Nolan Widrick, who doubled his way aboard to make it 19-3.

Timothy Connor got that start on the mound, pitching 4.1 innings, striking out two batters. JJ Humenay, Joe LaPrade, Michael Flyzik, and Jared Brenner combined to pitch the rest of the way.

St. Lawrence will take part in the Liberty League crossover series this weekend to end their season.
