Caelen Jahnle led the way on offense with four hits on the day, and
Sofia Berryhill twirled a complete-game shutout in game two as the St. Lawrence University softball team split the day with RIT at Saints Softball Field in Canton, N.Y. Saturday afternoon.
Marleigh Monroe pitched all seven innings in the first game, and Berryhill pitched a complete game two allowing zero runs to be scored, as
Stella VanGee also chipped in three hits on the day as well.
The Saint's record is now 12-10 and 2-4 in the Liberty League, while RIT is now 6-16 and 1-5 in the conference.

Game 1: St. Lawrence 5, RIT 6
After a quick three outs in the top of the first, SLU were the first to get on base as Jahnle singled to right field. Jahnle then stole second, followed by a Kloft walk to put runners on first and second.
Maeve Thompson stepped up to the plate and delivered a two-run triple that brought both Jahnle and Kloft home to put the Saints up 2-0.
It did not take long for the Tigers to respond, as Maddy Cook hit a homer in the top of the second to bring them with in one run.
The Scarlet and Brown ran into trouble in the top of the fourth, as a double to left field and a walk put runners on first and second. There was a fielder's choice to retire the lead runner, but RBI double up the middle made it a 2-2 contest. Monroe minimized the damage by ending the top of the fourth as she struck out Baretela swinging following a ground out.
RIT took the lead in the top of the fifth. After Sylvia White grounded out to third, Anna Cavotta singled to the left side of the field to get on base. Monroe would deliver a strikeout to bring them to two outs. Shortly thereafter, Kehl singled to middle to put Tigers on first and second. Cook continued her productive day as she connected on pitch for an RBI single to grab the 3-2 lead.
The Saints would take back the lead in the bottom of the sixth, as Kloft led off and smacked a double to deep left field. Kloft later scored on an error by the pitcher to tie the game.
Quinn Jerome would sub in on second, and advanced to third on a ground out from Thompson. Monroe would bring Jerome home in her next at bat in a ground out to first to regain the lead at 4-3
The Tigers would regain their lead in the top of the seventh. With two outs and a runner already on second, an RBI single tied the game at four. After a walk and a single, the bases were loaded as Kristen Hino delivered an RBi single to make it 5-4, then a sixth RIT run crossed the plate on an E4 to make it 6-4. That held as the final score.

Game 2: St. Lawrence 6, RIT 0
Much like game one, Jahnle got on base first launched a one-out single to the shortstop, and advanced to second after a throwing error. Jahnle made her way to third after a wild pitch was thrown while Kloft was at the plate. VerSchneider stepped up to the plate once Kloft struck out and delivered on the RBI single to left center field to bring Jahnle home and take the early 1-0 lead.
Juan picked up a single to center field on the bottom of the second, and VanGee knocked a single and stole a base in the bottom of the fourth as the game remained 1-0.
In the top of the fifth, the Tigers hit back-to-back singles to put them in scoring position, yet great fielding defense by SLU prevented any damage as they picked up three outs in a row after a putout at third, a fielder's choice that saved a run and a flyout to right field.
The Saints extended their lead in the bottom of the fifth, starting out Johnson hit a one out single to left center field to get on base. After Jahnle grounded out to the pitcher to advance Johnson to second, Kloft connected on a ball to bring Johnson home as she advanced to second on a fielder's choice resulting in the Saints taking a 2-0 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Scarlet and Brown blew the game open. Thompson started it off with a walk, and advanced to second on a Juan ground out to. VanGee continued her productive day, propelling an RBI single to center field which brought Thompson home.
With two outs,
Emily Wendt reached on an error, which also allowed VanGee to announce to third. Wendt stole second shortly after to have runners on second and third with Johnso entering the batter's box.
After another RIT error, VanGee made it home to make it 4-0 while Johnson reached and Wendt landed on third. Wendt stole home soon after to put them up five, and after a Jahnle single, and Kloft RBI single the Saints were up 6-0 heading into the seventh.
Sofia Berryhill completed the shutout as she closed out the game with a strikeout in her complete pitching performance, as the Saints take the 6-0 win.
