The St. Lawrence University men's tennis team took down Daemen 5-2 in the Newell Field House on Saturday evening in Canton, N.Y.
After the win, the Saints are now 2-2 on the season.
In doubles play the Saints won all three matches, with the tandems of
Edvin Strandberg and John-Hill Edgar (6-1),
Broderick Pinto and
Jake David 6-3), and
Aidan Baracao and
Charles Schepens (6-1) to earn the matches first point.
In singles, Baracao and
Ryan Tingley both pulled off sweeps in the five and six spots. Pinto had a close two sets as he won the first 6-3 and the second 7-5 to grab another point for the Scarlet and Brown. Hill-Edgar in third spot got pushed to a tiebreaker as he won the first set 6-4 and then proceeded to lose the second 6-7(8) and won the tiebreaker.
Strandberg and David had close matchups in the one and the four spots, yet both lost after trading sets and then, unfortunately, losing in the tie-breaking sets.
St. Lawrence now looks toward tomorrow as they play Bard College on Sunday, March 9Â at 2 p.m. at the Newell Field House in Canton, N.Y.
