Olivia Caporale and
Madison Connelly each registered their first collegiate home runs, but the St. Lawrence University softball team went 0-2 on Monday morning, as they dropped a 4-1 decision to Babson and fell 9-3 to Blackburn at THE Spring Games in Clermont, Fla.
The losses bring their overall record to .500, as they sit at 2-2 entering their off day Tuesday.

Game 1: Babson 4, St. Lawrence 1
The teams engaged in a defensive battle to begin the game, with starting pitchers
Marleigh Monroe of St. Lawrence and Cameron Whiteford of the Beavers allowing one hit each through the game's first three innings. The first team to break through was Babson, who plated three runs in the fourth with two outs, all of them unearned.
Next time up at the plate, Babson threatened to score again. Emily Walsh doubled to left-center to kick off the inning, then Sara Moore bunted Walsh over to third, and she scored on a throwing error to make it 4-0 Beavers.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Saints received their lone run of the game.
Caelen Jahnle reached base to lead off the inning, then she was bunted into scoring position by
Maeve Thompson.
Allison Kloft then scored Jahnle with a fly ball that eluded two Babson defenders, dropping into the gap for a double.
That was the last offense of the game for either team, with the Beavers handing the Saints their first loss of the 2025 season.
Marleigh Monroe threw her first-career complete game, allowing four runs (one earned) on six hits while walking three and striking out two.

Game 2: St. Lawrence 3, Blackburn 9
For the first time this season, it was St. Lawrence who plated the first runs of the game. Thompson took to the plate for the first at-bat of the game and grounded a ball down the third base line, through the infield for a lead-off single.
Vivian Johnson then moved her over to third with a double, and Thompson scored on an error to make it 1-0 Saints.
Kloft had hit into a double play on the run-scoring play, so after Thompson scored,
Olivia Caporale stepped up to the plate with the bases empty. She then launched a solo home run over the left field fence to make the score 2-0, recording her first collegiate home run in her 56
th game.
After the strong opening inning, Blackburn took the majority of the game's offense, scoring the game's next nine runs. That included three homers, as the Beavers looked to the long ball to pull away in the game.
With the score at 9-2, first-year Connelly got the Saints back on the board with a pinch-hit home run, smacking a solo shot out to straightaway center to make the score 9-3, which held as the final run of the game.
Izzy Melanson took the loss in the game, giving up three runs (none earned) on two hits and two walks over two-thirds of an inning.
Sofia Berryhill came on in relief, throwing five and one-thirds innings and allowing six runs on six hits with one walk. Only five of her runs were earned.
