The St. Lawrence University women's track and field team wrapped up their meet at the Liberty League championships today, with two individuals and one relay team placing on the podium on day two of the conference meet in Ithaca, N.Y.
"We carried some nice momentum into day two of the championship and added some more season- and lifetime-best performances to the tally for the weekend," said Saints head coach
Kate Howard. "Amelia and Avery were both outstanding earning podium finishes in their individual events in back-to-back days. We're looking forward to keeping it rolling into the AARTFC championships next weekend,"
In the field,
Amelia Berthold took sixth place in the high jump event, recording a leap for 1.49 meters. The mark narrowly missed her personal-best, and is one of the best performances of her career on a big stage.
Coming off an event victory in the 5000-meter run on Friday, first-year
Avery Blanchard podiumed with a seventh-place finish in the 3000-meter run. She recorded a time of 10:25.50 in the event.
In the relays, the Saints' 4x400-meter relay team of Lydia Wamzganz,
Cameran Stone,
Amelia Berthold and
Quinn Sirgany finished seventh. They had a time of 4:24.24, putting them on the podium in the event.
St. Lawrence finished seventh overall as a team.
The Saints will now return to Ithaca, N.Y., where they'll compete in the AARTFC championships beginning Friday, March 7.
