No. 7 Saints Complete Weekend Sweep, Clinch Home Ice in Quarterfinals with Senior Day Win Over No. 12 Princeton

Abby Hustler netted a pair of goals and recorded her 150th career point, as the seventh-ranked St. Lawrence University women's hockey team completed the weekend sweep with a 3-2 win over No. 12 Princeton on Saturday afternoon at Appleton Arena on senior day.

With today's win, the Saints improved to 18-9-5 on the season and 12-5-3 in ECAC play, while Princeton fell to 16-9-2 and 10-8-2. With the 2-0-0 weekend, the Saints have earned a first-round bye and clinched home ice for the best-of-three quarterfinals' series starting on February 28.

Tori Verbeek got things rolling midway through the first period for the Scarlet and Brown. Kiley Mastel pulled the puck off the boards and Aly McLeod laid out a centering pass allowing Verbeek to send a shot through traffic that went top corner beating the glove of Jennifer Olnowich, giving SLU a 1-0 lead.

Princeton fought their way back, scoring a pair of goals less just about two minutes apart to take a 2-1 lead over the Saints after the first 20 minutes of play.

The trio of Hustler, Claire Tyo and Kristina Bahl would shine for the remainder of the game for the Saints.

At 6:56 of the second period with the Saints on the power play, Tyo controlled the puck at the point and found Bahl, who sent a killer pass through her legs to the stick of Hustler, who scored a rocket of a shot off the back crossbar for her 150th career point.

Those same three pulled off another power play goal for the game winner at 9:57 of the third, as Tyo and Bahl sent the puck back and forth from the left circle to the point before Bahl found Hustler in the slot. Hustler then fired a one timer past Olnowich sent the one timer past Olnowich.

"Certainly a perfect way to finish the weekend for our senior class," said head coach Chris Wells. "Our team really responded well to the ebbs and flows of tonight's game after the emotional one last night. We got some great special team's efforts tonight and that was the difference."

"Kass again made some great stops especially at the beginning of the third and in the big pile with under a minute to go. We will enjoy a couple of days of rest and get back at it for our final regular season games!"

St. Lawrence led Princeton 33-26 in shots on goal. The Saints also went 2-for-5 on the power play and killed off both of the Tigers' opportunities.

Following today's game, the Saints honored the five members of the Class of 2025 – Gemma DiMento, Abby Hustler, Taylor Lum, Sarah Marchand and Hillary Sterling.

St. Lawrence wraps up the regular season on the road at Harvard and Dartmouth. They take on the Big Green on Friday at 6 p.m. and the Big Green on
