Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Three Saints Record 12 Points in Road Loss at SUNY Poly

The St. Lawrence University men's basketball team dropped to 3-4 on the year with a double-digit defeat on the road at the hands of SUNY Poly.

Dan Anderon, Chris Downs Jr., and Adam Dudzinski each added 12 points in a 64-51 loss on Tuesday night in Utica.

"We are struggling right now, but the journey is part of the gift," said Saints head coach Chris Downs. "We will bounce back and be better moving forward."

Colton Suriano kicked the game off by draining a three-pointer for the first points of the game early in the first. Poly would respond with the next four points, before the Saints took the lead back when Downs converted on a three-point play after laying one in and draining a foul shot.

Poly hit a three to go up 10-8 moments later – and that kicked off a 13-3 run for the Wildcats which put them firmly in the driver's seat up 21-11 with 7:31 to play.

The Wildcats then stayed hot, with William Scanlon nailing a three-ball, the Wildcats' third of the evening, to double up the Saints 26-13 with four minutes to play in the opening half. The Saints had a late spurt at the end of the half via lay ups from Anderson and Dudzinski and the game went to half with St. Lawrence down 26-18.

Out of the break, Brayden Shepardson cut the lead to six on a layup at 26-20, but Poly used another offensive string, an 8-0 run, to open up their largest lead of the game at 14. Following that, Poly kept at least a 10-point lead until the time expired on the game clock, locking down a victory.

The Saints resume action this weekend, as they take part in conference action against Union and RPI – their first conference games of the season.
