11 Saints Find Scoresheet; St. Lawrence Improves to 3-0 with Win Over Plattsburgh State

Izzy Caron's double-double helped power the St. Lawrence University women's basketball team to a 74-36 win over Plattsburgh State on Tuesday night. Caron finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds as the Saints opened their home schedule in front of 208 fans at Burkman Gymnasium and pushed their perfect record to 3-0.

The win came as a result of scoring by committee, with the Saints having 10 different point scorers and a high number of points coming off the bench (31). St. Lawrence now enters the tournament portion of the 2025-26 campaign next weekend at Western New England.

"That was a very mature and disciplined performance today," said Saints head coach Dan Roiger. "We executed out defensive game plan very well and then took care of the boards. On offense, we moved the ball well only had three turnovers after three quarters."

"We had a number of excellent contributions, including Annie, Hannah, Norah, Jackie, Izzy, and Stevie," Roiger continued. "Nobody played poorly. It was a number of very good games combining into an excellent team effort. I'm very pleased with the performance."

Hannah Van Dyke started the scoring with a layup before Jackie Malley and Annie Perry buried back-to-back threes that helped the Saints take early control. With two minutes left in the first, the Saints led 19-8 and added to it when Norah Niesz grabbed an offensive rebound and hit a three.

Perry opened the second-quarter scoring as the offense continued to click. Van Dyke knocked down her second three of the night, and Malley beat the shot clock with a jumper to send the Saints into halftime up 32-18. SLU shot 29-for-74 from the field and made eight threes on the night.

The Saints kept their momentum in the third. Caron pulled down a rebound, pushed the ball up the court, and scored through contact. Four Saints added points in the fourth as St. Lawrence tacked on 12 more to finish the win.

St. Lawrence dominated the transition game, scoring 17 points off Plattsburgh's 17 turnovers. The Cardinals were held to 14-of-58 shooting and went 1-for-15 from beyond the arc as the Saints continued to close out possessions.

Niesz and Van Dyke led the Scarlet and Brown with 11 points each, while Caron and Stevie Bannon added 10. Caron also posted a game-high 11 rebounds. Perry went two-for-two from three.

The Saints travel to Springfield, Mass. this weekend for the Western New England Tournament. They open play Friday, November 21 at 8 p.m. against Connecticut College.
