The home team scored two goals in the first half of the game, and the St. Lawrence University women's soccer team couldn't mount a comeback, falling 2-0 to Union College on Saturday afternoon at College Park Field in Schenectady, N.Y.
St. Lawrence saw their season come to a close at 8-7-3 with the loss, and 4-5-0 in Liberty League play, while the Garnet Chargers improved to 9-6-3, and 4-3-2 in the league.
Union scored both goals in the first 22 minutes of the contest. Anne Pearl converted a penalty kick in the 17th minute, and Vanessa Jorgensen added a second goal in the 22nd minute off an assist from Taylor Bovardi.
In the second half,
Sydney Keenan,
Chloe Bourque,
Brooke Habinowski, and
Lilly Stone all had shot attempts, but Maya Koster made three saves and saw a shot sail wide to preserve the win and help Union advance to the playoffs.
Reagan Murphy stopped five shots in the St. Lawrence goal, while Koster made three saves for Union.
Union outshot the Saints 7-3 and earned six corner kicks to St. Lawrence's one.
