Lily Gubbins had the lone goal of the day as the St. Lawrence University field hockey team fell 6-1 to visiting Rensselaer on senior day.
The Saints now drop to 3-8 on their season as they continue through Liberty League play.
The first 10 minutes of the game were back and forth, with the Scarlet and Brown striking first. Gubbins broke the 0-0 draw to give the Saints their first and only lead of the day. Two minutes later, the Engineers tallied to even the score. The score remained the same in the second half.
The second half of the game included five RPI goals, shutting out the Saints. RPI's Sophia Brown led the Engineers with a hat trick on the day.Â
Charlotte Lehr led the Scarlet and Brown with shots with three on the day, followed by
Mayson Blondek and Gubbins with two.
Maja Helmer also had one.
The Saints will travel to Ithaca to play the Bombers on Friday, Octocber 14 at 4 p.m., Their final home game of the season will be Sunday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. against the Garnet Chargers of Union.
