Saints See Conference Qualifiers in Thursday Meet at RIT

The St. Lawrence University women's track and field team took part in the RIT Invitational in Rochester N.Y., seeing many notable performances as they continue their winter season.

"We took advantage of a great mid-week competition opportunity today in Rochester," said Saints head coach Kate Howard. "We're seeing some solid performances and consistency across the event groups and we're looking forward to being back in action on Tuesday in Plattsburgh."

For the 5000-meter run, first-year Paige Poirier grabbed second in her first collegiate attempt in the event, also hitting the Liberty League qualifier with her time of 19:57.77.

In the 400-meter, junior Amelia Berthold finished with a time of 1:05.49 to finish eighth in this event. That was a personal best for her.

Junior Cameran Stone finished second in the 3000-meter run. She recorded a time of 11:27.68, while senior Adeline Moore had a time of 12:02.88 to place fourth for the event.

In the field, Berthold placed seventh in the high jump, when she cleared 1.37 meters. She also set a personal best in the long jump, where she leaped for 4.76 meters and finished ninth.

The Saints now head east to Plattsburgh, N.Y. for their second straight midweek meet, as they take part in the Plattsburgh Sprint/Field Meet on Tuesday, February 4.
