The St. Lawrence University women's track and field team took home second place this Saturday afternoon in the St. Lawrence Invitational in Canton, N.Y.
In the field events, junior
Halla Chappell finished third place in the pole vault after she cleared 2.60 meters.
Sophomore
Ashley Wieland finished third in the 5000-meter, with her time of 21:03.83.
In the mile run, first-year
Avery Blanchard cruised to first place in her first ever collegiate race in the distance event, registering a time of 5:22.34. She finished five seconds ahead of junior
Adriana Cecchetelli, who placed second with her own time of 5:27.04.
 In the 60-meter hurdles, junior
Amelia Berthold set a new personal best in the hurdling event, placing second with her time of 9.87 for the event.
Sophomore
Quinn Sirgany had a strong performance, placing first in the 800-meter with her time of 2:26.26. That was her personal best, and also hit the Liberty League qualifying time.
The Saints placed first in the distance medley with a time of 13:05.70. Sirgany, Cecchetelli, Blanchard, and junior
Cameran Stone participated in this event, and booked their ticket to regionals by hitting the AARTFC qualifying time in the race.
For the 3000-meter run, three saints finished in the top four for the event. First-year
Paige Poirier placed second with her time of 11:18.73, sophomore
Carly Zack placed third with 11:28.63, and senior
Adeline Moore finished fourth with her time of 12:11.87.
Finally, for the 4x400-meter, Berthold,
Elena Trempe,
Nora Graves, and
Emma Brosell finished second with their combined time of 4:44.23.
The Saints are back in action on January 30Â where they will compete in the RIT Invitational in Rochester, N.Y.
