Jimmy King was named the Individual Champion at the Liberty League Championships, leading the St. Lawrence University men's golf team to a second-place finish at the par-72 Shenendoah Golf Club at the Turning Stone in Verona, N.Y. on Sunday.
King shot a combined 214 over three rounds on the weekend and moved up from third place to tie the University of Rochester's Tom Liu and Skidmore's Evan Forrest for first place. Â
There was a playoff to determine the individual champion and King won on the second playoff hole. King and Forrest finished with par on the first hole, while Liu bogeyed and was out of the running. Forrest hit an errant drive on the second hole and King won with a par.
Sam Lyman recorded a fourth-place finish with a 216, while
Cooper Evans tied for sixth place with a 219. Â
Wes Bevins wrapped up the weekend with a 224 to tie for 15th, while
Ben Scholes tied for 27th with a 232. Â
St. Lawrence shot a combined 294 on Friday, a 286 on Saturday, and a 293 on Sunday to finish championship weekend with a 873 as the runners up. The University of Rochester took home the team title with a 870, while Skidmore finished third with a 874.
With the conclusion of championship weekend, the Saints wrapped up the 2023-24 season. King will await the decision of the selection committee, who selects six individuals for NCAAs.Â
