Jackson Brinker had a big day from the plate going 4-for-9 with two home runs, and five RBI, while
John Donnellan hit his third home run of the series, as the St. Lawrence University baseball team took game one of the doubleheader 10-8 before falling in game two to Rochester for the twin bill split on Tuesday in Rochester, N.Y.
St. Lawrence went to 6-7 on the year, and 1-2 in the Liberty League with the split, while the Yellowjackets moved to 7-10, and 2-1 in league play.

The win was the first for the Saints over Rochester since the 2019 season when St. Lawrence defeated the Yellowjackets 2-1 on Tom Fay Field.

Sean Desjardins also came up big on the day generating four RBI on two hits including a three-tun triple in game one.

Game 1: St. Lawrence 10, Rochester 8
Game one started with a bang for the Saints as Brinker, who was in the leadoff spot took a first pitch for a ball before launching the next pitch over the wall for a leadoff home run and the early 1-0 lead.

St. Lawrence's offense would come alive in the top of the third when a leadoff walk to
Mike Siano spiraled for the Yellowjackets. Siano would advance on a throwing error before
Timothy Connor walked to load the bags.
John Gannon was hit by the next pitch to bring Siano around.

Willie Landman followed with a sacrifice fly, then a four-pitch walk to
Max Cloutier setup
Sean Desjardins, who blistered a three-run triple to balloon the lead to 6-0.

Rochester finally hit the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth off a sac fly and a stolen base at home on a pick-off attempt making it 6-2. The Yellowjackets scored three more in the fifth to make it a 6-5 game.

The Scarlet and Brown wouldn't go away as they put up two in the top of the sixth when
Brett Federico singled a run home and Donnellan scored on a wild pitch.

The score was 9-6 entering the ninth and after a leadoff fly out Donnellan hit his third home run in the last 24 hours on the first pitch to make it 10-6.

Rochester hit a pair of solo home runs in the bottom of the ninth, but a double play ball and a line out forced by
Michael Watson to secure the victory.

Brenden O'Neil toed the slab in game one pitching 4.1 innings of four-hit, four-run ball with a strikeout.
Joshua Polumbo came in for relief before first-year
David Zuhlsdorf took the hill. The newcomer earned the win pitching 3.1 innings giving up three hits, two runs, and striking out three batters. Watson earned the save in the game pitching an inning of work.

Game 2: St. Lawrence 8, Rochester 12
In game two, the Saints once again scored first, this time in the second inning. Back-to-back singles from Landman and Cloutier set up Donnellan, who hit a double down the left-field line to score a run.

Rochester earned two runs back in the bottom half of the second to gain the lead before Connor scorched a single in the top of the third to score Brinker and tie the game.

The Yellowjackets broke the game open in the third with a three-run and a two-run home run to gain the 7-2 lead. Brinker would get a run back with a single in the fourth that was countered but a sac fly in the bottom half to make it 8-3 Yellowjackets.

Rochester would keep chipping in runs and the game would be 12-4 in the top of the ninth.

The Scarlet and Brown tried to mount a rally with a walk and two singles to load the paths with one out away. First-year
Matt Davis scored a runner with a sacrifice fly, then in the next at-bat with a 1-2 count, Brinker smoked a fastball over the wall for a three-run home run.

However, a ground out ended the threat and the game.

Christian Mingione started the game by pitching 2.1 innings giving up four hits.
Boden Driscoll pitched the next three in relief giving up three earned and striking out one.
Liam Hickey,
Teaghin Andre, and
Michael Flyzik combined for the final 2.2 innings fanning three batters.
