Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Storey's Strong Three-Point Shooting Helps Saints to Large Win Over Skidmore

Carter Storey went 5-5 from the arc and Trey Syroka had a career-high 11 assists to lead the St. Lawrence Saints men's basketball team to an 83-49 win over Skidmore Friday night in Burkman Gymnasium.

The win moves the Saints into a three-way tie for first place in the Liberty League standings with Hobart and RPI entering the last game of the season. Should the Saints win against RPI Saturday, they put themselves in a strong position to lock down first place in the Liberty League, pending game results elsewhere in the conference.

"We did exactly what we needed to do today and that puts us in a good position going into tomorrow's game," said Chris Downs, head coach of the Saints.

The Scarlet and Brown never looked back after starting the game with a 16-0 run. At halftime, the Saints had a commanding 38-19 lead. Adam Dudzinski and Aiden Macauley were both in double figures with ten points each at the break.

The Saints continued to get consistent production on the offensive end of the court, while also shutting down the Thoroughbreds defensively. With 6:20 to go in the second half, the Saints had a 75-30 point advantage marking their largest lead of the game. Despite Skidmore hitting their shots late, St. Lawrence was able to get the victory in blowout fashion. The 34-point win marks their largest margin of victory in conference play this season.

Carter Storey had 16 points in 18 minutes while Trey Syroka tallied nine points and 11 assists. Adam Dudzinski had 10 points, seven rebounds and three blocks. The Saints got contributions from plenty of players as ten players scored at least 5 points. The Scarlet and Brown shot 52 per cent from the field including 11-21 beyond the arc.

The Saints will look to finish the year on a high note as they host the first place RPI Engineers (15-9, 12-5) on senior night at 4 p.m.
