The St. Lawrence University women's track and field team saw multiple personal-bests Saturday, as they took first place as a team at the Saints Holiday Relays.
"We took advantage of a terrific opportunity to see where we are after our fall training block," said Saints head coach
Kate Howard. "Putting on the uniform and the competition shoes for the first time this season gave us some excellent performances across the event groups and we created some nice momentum going into the semester break."
The first-year heavy sprint medley relay team of
Isla Bougard Duncan,
Emma Brosell, Kayleigh McCullen, and
Cameran Stone opened the meet by claiming first place with a time of 4:46.31.
In the mile run,
Quinn Sirgany crossed the line in 5:36.79, earning first place and finishing just two seconds shy of a personal best. Teammate
Paige Poirier followed in second at 5:59.06, with
Ashley Wieland rounding out the top three in 6:07.97, a personal best.
Stone returned to the track in the 1000-meter run and impressed, battling to a third-place finish with a time of 3:27.21.
Sophomore
Carly Zack had a breakout performance in her 1000-meter event, claiming victory in a personal-best time of 11:11.63, while
Adriana Cecchetelli secured second place in 11:18.40.
In the field events, newcomer
Lola Buckley earned fourth place in the shot put, registering a throw of 9.35 meters. Rosemary Fleishmann finished second in the weight throw with a mark of 10.95 meters.
The high jump saw
Amelia Berthold clearing 1.50 meters to earn second place, achieving a new personal best. Meanwhile, in the long jump,
Mackenzie Marcus took second place with a leap of 4.64 meters, and
Lyla Baldwin's third-place jump of 4.49 meters also marked a personal record.
The Saints' well-rounded efforts set the tone for their return to the track in 2025, when they kick off the winter semester at Middlebury for the Winter Invitational in January.
