Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Saints Allow Season-Low 37 Points, Down Vassar for Eighth Straight Win

Double-digit scoring from three different players combined with stingy defense saw the St. Lawrence men's basketball team continue its winning ways with a 54-37 victory over Vassar College Saturday afternoon at Burkman Gymnasium.

With the win, the Saints improve to 14-4 overall with a league mark of 10-2. It's their eighth straight victory.

In a back and forth first half, neither team led by more than four points until the five-minute mark when St. Lawrence would close out the half on a 12-2 run. Adam Dudzinski poured in 10 first-half points, eight of those coming in the last 3:40 of the first.

The Saints' nationally-ranked defense again did its part to help build the lead, allowing just two points by the Brewers in the final five minutes.

A red-hot start to the second half saw St. Lawrence score the first 11 points behind two more threes from Dudzinski along with a three and layup by Aiden Macaulay. Another strong second half showing defensively from the Saints kept the Vassar offense at bay as their opponents were held to less than 50 points in a game for the second-straight day.

Leading by as much as 22 at one point, St. Lawrence used a 14-6 effort in steals and 26-13 points off turnovers to seal the win, which increases the team's winning streak to eight games.

Dudzinski again led the Scarlet and Brown in scoring with 16 points on 3-5 shooting from beyond the arc. Gavin Macaulay and Aiden Macaulay tossed in 11 and 10 points respectively to help the winning cause, while Andrew Cowan hauled down 10 rebounds.

St. Lawrence returns to action in the Liberty League this upcoming weekend as they travel to face RIT on Friday, Feb. 2 Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
