Lucy Adiutori and
Cara Vredenburg each had two saves each but the St. Lawrence Saints field hockey team dropped Tuesday night's non-conference matchup to the host Hamilton Continentals 4-0.
The non-conference win was Hamilton's third in a row and brings their record to 6-3. St. Lawrence now finds themselves at 3-7 overall on the 2023 season.
The four Hamilton goals were split between two different players: Alana King and Alden Duserick. King kicked off the offense for the Continentals, wasting no time by opening the scoring at 3:33.
After a break in offensive play, a flurry of goals followed. Duserick then scored her first goal of the season at 23:19, widening the Hamilton lead to 2-0. The Continentals then added two more goals in the next four minutes of play to make the score 4-0 Hamilton before halftime.
The Saints then regrouped at the half and prevented the Continentals from adding any more offense later on in the contest.
"The team didn't give up and continued to play hard," said head coach
Fran Grembowicz. "We put together a better second half as a result."
Hamilton had eight penalty corners in the match which served as a catalyst for their offense – they launched 17 shots toward the Saints' goal over the course of the contest. St. Lawrence had 37 fouls in the game compared to Hamilton's 44.
The Saints stay on the road this weekend, but switch back to Liberty League play when they take on Ithaca College this Saturday, Oct. 7 at 3 p.m.
