Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Rochester Takes Down Saints on Senior Day

A strong second quarter for Rochester was able to carry them to a convincing victory over the St. Lawrence University field hockey team. They scored two goals in under two minutes, with one coming via a penalty stroke, ultimately vaulting to a 5-1 win.

The Yellowjackets were the first to get the scoring underway, earning a first-quarter goal from Maeve Fogarty at 11:44. This came after a first quarter that featured multiple shots on goal for visiting Rochester – senior keeper Lucy Adiutori made 10 saves in that quarter alone.

While the Yellowjackets didn't have much offense in the second quarter, when they got chances they made them count. They scored on two of their first three shots on goal in the second quarter, with one coming via penalty stroke, to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.

After Rochester went up 4-0, the Saints earned their first goal since Oct. 7 against Ithaca. Mayson Blondek let one fly off a penalty corner, beating the Rochester keeper at 41:18 to trim the Yellowjackets lead down to 4-1.

Rochester would add one more goal to cement their win at 5-1.

The Saints were outshot in the game 29-7, with Lucy Adiutori shining on her senior day. She made 15 saves, her second-highest total of the season. Adiutori was honored before the game alongside fellow seniors Ava Hartley and Katrina Randall.

The Saints aren't done this weekend, as they now head out to William Smith for a road contest on Sunday, Oct. 22.
