No. 13 Saints Fall to No. 10 Ithaca in Liberty League Semifinals

Jaime Allan scored three goals, while Callie O'Neil and Morgan Arakelian both scored twice to lead the No. 13 and second-seeded St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team, but the Saints fell to No. 10 and third-seeded Ithaca 18-9 in the Liberty League Semifinals on Saturday afternoon in Geneva, N.Y.

With the loss, the Saints fall to 16-2, while Ithaca improved to 15-2.

Isabel Silvia and Charlotte Powell also scored for the Saints, while Silvia won three draw controls, picked up one ground ball and caused one turnover.

Sydney Phillips opened scoring for the Bombers, giving Ithaca a 1-0 lead 58 seconds into play. The Saints quickly responded with two goals of their own from O'Neil and Allan, but the Bombers tacked on two more to lead 3-2. Allan scored with nine seconds to play in the first frame to knot the game at 3-3.

The Bombers worked to extend their lead, as they outscored the Saints 6-2 in the second quarter to take a 9-5 lead at the break.

The Bombers continued their run outscoring the Scarlet and Brown 9-4 in the second half, holding the Saints to just two goals in each of the final quarters.

Maizy Veitch led Ithaca with five goals and two assists, while Phillips scored four.

Ithaca outshot St. Lawrence 37-24 and held a 27-17 edge in shots on goal.

Raelynn Bovenzi made nine saves for the Saints, while Lexi Held made eight for Ithaca.

The Saints will await the NCAA selection show on Monday to see if they will earn an at-large bid to the 2022 NCAA Tournament.
