Saints Named Reserve Champions, Headed to IHSA Nationals

The St. Lawrence University riding team is headed to the IHSA Nationals after being named the Reserve Champions at the 2022 IHSA Zone II Finals on Saturday at the Elsa Gunnison Appleton Riding Hall.

After winning their 11th-straight Regional Championship on March 26th, the Scarlet and Brown qualified for Nationals as a team and also had four Saints qualify individually.

The Saints who qualified for Nationals include: Grace Jackson, Fenn Novicki, Clara Mugnai, and Allison Bauer.

Jackson, the Region II High Point Rider, competed and took first place to win the Cacchione Cup class and also qualified individually in Open Fences.

Novicki was named the Zone Champion in the Individual Limit Fences, while Mugnai secured the championship in the Individual Intermediate Fences and teammate Bauer was the champion in the Individual Limit Flat.

Following the show, St. Lawrence University President Kathryn Morris presented the team trophies, awarding the Saints their Reserve Champion trophy and the Long Island University – Post team their Championship trophy. 

The Saints will continue to train and prepare to head to the IHSA Nationals in Harrisburg, Pa. from May 5-8.
