The No. 20 St. Lawrence University women's squash team won their final match against No. 30 Vassar 9-0 on Sunday morning at the Kenyon Hall Courts in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. to win the Liberty League Championship.
The tournament championship win is the fourth for the Saints and is their third title since 2017-18. St. Lawrence last won the Liberty League Championship in the 2018-19 season when the Saints' seniors were just first-years.
This year's Championship Most Outstanding Player honors were awarded to St. Lawrence's
Margaret Fleischner, who posted a hard-fought 3-2 (11-8, 9-11, 7-11, 11-8, 11-9) win in the Saints' critical 6-3 win over William Smith on Saturday. Fleischner also went a perfect 3-0 on the weekend.Â

Scott Denne "Our mid-order was especially solid with Margaret, Ulrikke, and Petra reversing losses in our first encounter to get wins in tight matches. It was a nice and well-deserved victory and shows that the hard work put in during preseason paid off. Now we can focus on the remaining matches and team nationals that are coming up over the next few weeks."
All eight St. Lawrence players came away with 3-0 sweeps en route to the perfect sweep.
In the number one spot,
Anannya Morey took on Claire Cross of Vassar and won 11-2, 11-4, 11-4.
Senior captains
Sanna Koivumäki and
Makyla Kelley both swept their matches in under 20 minutes in the number two and three spots respectively. Koivumäki made quick work of Emma Adams winning 11-2, 11-2, 11-4, while Kelley took down Anna Lee 11-1, 11-6, 12-10.
Petra DeRose,
Ulrikke Ribesen, and Fleischner were the next three up in the Saints' lineup. DeRose swept Nicole Pihlstrom 11-3, 11-2, 11-6 in the number four spot, while Ribesen beat Olivia Berkson 11-4, 11-4, 11-3 in the number five. Fleischner won her match against Darina Kulaha in the fastest match of the day. It took her just 11 minutes to beat Kulaha by the score of 11-1, 11-4, 11-1.
In the number seven and eight spots
Promise Dorsey-Butler and
Xitlali Zuniga-Romero capped off the win total. Dorsey-Butler took down Olivia Kane 11-3, 11-2, 11-6, While Zuniga-Romero beat Sophia Choudhri 11-4, 11-1, 11-7.
St. Lawrence will now head back to Canton and started preparing for a trip to Ithaca, N.Y. next weekend. On Saturday, February 12th, the Saints will take on Drexel University at 4:00 p.m. at Cornell University. The on Sunday, St. Lawrence faces off against Cornell at 11:00 a.m.
