Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Snode Stops 10 Shots In Clean Sheet; Women's Soccer Ties No. 6 Herons 0-0

Junior goalkeeper Keely Snode delivered her third career 10-plus save game as the St. Lawrence University women's soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw with No. 6 William Smith on Saturday afternoon at Cozzens Field in Geneva.

St. Lawrence, who entered the game 8-38-3 all-time against the Herons, earned a tie with William Smith for the first time since the 2009 season when the Franco Bari-led Saints battled to a 1-1 tie in Geneva.

The Scarlet and Brown finished their season at 6-6-3 with the tie and 2-5-2 in Liberty League play, while the Herons went to 11-1-4, and 6-0-3 in league play.

"We're really proud of this group. The effort they put in and the belief that they earned to get to this point is impressive," said head coach Sinead McSharry "Despite playing a really competitive and respected team, our group never gave up on trying to play to the strengths of our identity and it was our response that kept us in it. Whilst this season has had its fair share of challenges, I told this group after the game that this has been one of my favorite season of coaching in college. We talk a lot about growth but it's not until you're in the trenches that you can truly act on what that means. Today we found our value, resilience, and lived in the thick of it."

William Smith dominated in the shot totals from the start as the Herons outshot the Saints 18-1 in the opening half and 4-1 in shots on goal. The lone shot from St. Lawrence came in the last ten seconds of the half as Sam Cohen got a shot to the bottom center of the frame but was stopped by Amanda Kessler.

The Herons continued to pour shots on to the tune of 19-1 in the second half and got seven more shots on goal. The Scarlet and Brown's shot in the half came from Britney Burns, whose shot to the lower right corner was turned away.

The clock struck 90 as the Herons were unable to solve Snode and had to settle for a draw.

Snode stopped 10 saves to earn a clean sheet in the tie, while Kessler stopped both shots that came her way.

William Smith had a 37-2 edge in shots but just an 11-2 advantage in shots on goal.
