The St. Lawrence University men's golf team will open up the fall portion of the 2021-22 season with the St. Lawrence Invitational at the Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course this Saturday and Sunday.
The Saints will compete against SUNY Canton, Paul Smiths, Clarkson, Utica, NYU and Nazareth.
"It should be a beautiful weekend for golf, we're just hoping the rain holds off on Sunday and we're all very excited to get the season started," said head coachÂ
Mary Lawrence. "After only being able to compete in the spring, all the guys are excited to get out on the course for our home invitational."
With a group of six seniors returning in
William Wilson,
Grant Van Buren,
Erik Sarier,
Bryan McLennan,
Max Hagan,
Wesley Dixon and
Nicholas Aubry, the Saints will have great leadership out on the course this year. Â
Wilson and McLennan both earned Division III PING Northeast All-Region honors following the abbreviated 2021 spring season, while Wilson and now sophomore
Cooper Evans earned Second-Team All-Liberty League honors.
Last spring, the Saints took first at the Clarkson and SUNY Canton Invitational and placed second at their home invite and fourth at the Liberty League Championships.
After this weekend, the Saints head to Clarkson, Middlebury, SUNY Canton, Williams and Paul Smith's before competing in the fall portion of the Liberty League Fall Preview at the Turning Stone in Verona, New York. The Saints will travel to Nazareth to close the fall season on October 9-10.
