Shailynn Snow scored two unassisted goals and Lucy Morgan made 36 saves to lead the St. Lawrence University women's hockey team to a 3-2 win over fifth-ranked Colgate in an ECAC Hockey contest on Friday night at Appleton Arena.

Julia Gosling also scored a goal for the Saints, who moved into a tie for third place in the ECAC Hockey standings with Quinnipiac with one game in hand. 

"We are really proud of our total team effort and the energy that we brought to the game," said Saints' assistant coach Mare MacDougall Bari. "Our games versus Colgate are always so fast and fun to watch, and this one was certainly no exception to that."



Snow gave the Saints a 1-0 lead with a power play goal just over seven minutes into the first period. She intercepted a pass inside her own blue line and skated all the way down the ice, beating a pair of defenders before flipping a backhand shot between Colgate goaltender Kayle Osborne's legs for her second goal of the season.

Gosling gave the Saints a 2-0 lead with another power play goal five minutes later, taking a pass from Brittney Gout at the top of the in the right faceoff circle and one-timing a blast inside the right post for her fourth goal in four games this season. Anna Segedi also picked up an assist on the play.

Colgate's Delani MacKay cut the lead to one just over two minutes into the second period, taking a pass from Eleri MacKay and beating Morgan with a low shot from inside the left faceoff dot. Tanner Gates also earned an assist on the play.

Gosling appeared to give the Saints a 3-1 lead with a goal on a rebound just 13 seconds into the third period, but the referees ruled that there was goaltender interference on the play.

Snow, however, was able to restore the two-goal cushion just four minutes later, taking advantage of a Colgate turnover at the Raiders' blue line and skating in all alone to beat Osborne five-hole again, this time on her forehand.

Nemo Neubauerova cut the lead to one, scoring on a rebound right out in front of the Saints' net halfway through the third period, but Morgan was able to shut the door to preserve the victory for the Saints.

The Saints (2-5-0 overall, 2-4-0 ECAC) were 2-for-4 on the power play and held Colgate (11-5-1, 6-3-0) scoreless on three power play opportunities. The Raiders outshot the Saints 38-25, including a 17-7 edge in the second period. Osborne made 22 saves for the Raiders.

The two teams will meet for their final game in this year's regular season series on Sunday at 4 p.m. at Class of 1965 Arena in Hamilton.
