This afternoon, Director of Athletics and Recreation Bob Durocher sent student-athletes an update on the fall and winter sports seasons at St. Lawrence, with the announcement that the Liberty League has canceled league competition and championships through December 31, 2020. That letter is posted below.

Student-Athletes,

Earlier today, the Liberty League announced that all league competition and championships through December 31, 2020, have been canceled due to the evolving COVID-19 pandemic. At St. Lawrence, we plan to have as many fall sports teams as possible participate in practices and intra-squad activities. We will also consider the potential for some intercollegiate scrimmages later in the fall with limited regional opponents if public health conditions permit. 

I recognize that this is disappointing news for you as a student-athlete. Please be assured that our top priority at the University remains the health and safety of our entire campus community. 

I am inviting athletes and families from each affected team to join me for a virtual meeting on Thursday evening, July 23, at 7:30 p.m. to answer more specific questions.

Winter Sports 
We are hopeful that public health conditions will allow our participation in winter sports. Details are currently being discussed with the Liberty League, the College Squash Association, the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association, and the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association. 

Division I Hockey
St. Lawrence intends to play Division I hockey this year. ECAC Hockey continues to discuss the best path forward. We anticipate being able to share more information in the near future.

I remain hopeful that our fall student-athletes will be able to enjoy the comradery of their teammates and the experience that our coaches will provide during the upcoming season in a way that will be safe and healthy for all involved.
