Katie Frederick recorded her 12th double-double of the season and the Saints outscored the Thoroughbreds 14-5 in overtime to lift the St. Lawrence University women's basketball team to a 66-57 win over Skidmore in Liberty League action on Friday night in Saratoga Springs, New York.

Frederick totaled 23 points, shooting 10-for-16 from the floor, and recorded 11 rebounds, five blocks and one steal.
Ava McCann finished with 17 points, while
Annabella Pugliese grabbed eight rebounds and
Erin Kumler and
Dylan Watkiss combined for seven assists.

After a neck-and-neck first frame, Skidmore held a slight 11-10 lead after the first 10 minutes. The Saints opened the second quarter on an 8-2 to lead 19-15 with 5:55 to play. St. Lawrence continued to outscore the Thoroughbreds 19-12 to lead 29-23 at the break.

The momentum shifted in favor of the Thoroughbreds, who brought the game back within one after the third quarter.

After another back-and-forth quarter, the Saints were down by two after Kate McCarney went 1-for-2 from the line, but Frederick made the layup with 10 seconds to go to tie the game 52-52. McCarney attempted a layup at the buzzer but was unsuccessful.

St. Lawrence opened overtime on a 9-0 run and outscored Skidmore 14-5 for the win.
"We didn't play well today," said head coach
Dan Roiger. "We had many offensive breakdowns and shot poorly and just couldn't get a run going. But in overtime we finally had a strong three minutes of basketball to get a lead and then we cashed in on free throws to finish it."
McCarney led the Thoroughbreds with 20 points, while Clare Driscoll finished with 14 and Maddie Hastings grabbed a team-best 14 rebounds.

St. Lawrence shot 34.9 percent from the field, including 50.0 percent during overtime, while Skidmore combined to shoot 30.1 percent and just 25.0 in overtime.

The Saints improved to 16-6 on the season and 12-3 in conference play, while the Thoroughbreds fell to 5-17 and 3-12.

The Saints will travel to Ithaca for a 2 p.m. game against the Bombers tomorrow afternoon. The winner of tomorrow's game will secure first place in the league standings heading into the final regular season weekend.
