The St. Lawrence University women's hockey team's schedule for the 2020-21 season will include 12 ECAC Hockey games, with four games against each of the three other conference opponents (Clarkson, Colgate and Quinnipiac) that will be playing games this year.
The Saints will open the season with a home-and-home series with Colgate, with the first game in Hamilton on Jan. 22, and the home opener on Jan. 24.
Each team will host the other three teams twice. The Saints' games with Quinnipiac will be back-to-back in the same location on successive weekends on January 30-31 in Hamden, Connecticut, and on February 6-7 at Appleton Arena. The Colgate games will consist of two home-and-home series on Fridays/Sundays, while the games with Clarkson will be a home-and-home series on February 12-13 and mid-week games on February 3 at Appleton and February 16 at Cheel Arena at Clarkson.
While the Saints' current schedule only includes the 12 conference games, there may be an opportunity to add non-conference games at a later date.
"It's nice to have a schedule in place," said Saints head coach
Chris Wells '92. "Our team is excited to get started in the New Year. Not being on campus in the fall has allowed us to see how many situations have played out not only at St. Lawrence, but around college athletics."
With a three-semester academic year in place at St. Lawrence due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most of the women's hockey players opted to take the fall semester off and will be enrolled in classes during the spring and summer terms.
"Not getting ahead of ourselves and enjoying everything day-by-day is the only way to approach this season. It will be nice to see everyone again. It's been since March that we were all together."
While no fans will be allowed at Appleton Arena this season, Skating Saints fans will have the opportunity to stream every game against an ECAC Hockey live opponent on ESPN+, with subscriptions costing just $5.99 per month.Â
