Frederick Double-Doubles, Saints Defeat Ithaca 63-47

Katie Frederick scored 19 points and grabbed 17 rebounds to lead the St. Lawrence University women's basketball team to a 63-47 win over Ithaca in Liberty League play on Friday night in Burkman Gymnasium.

With tonight's win, the Scarlet and Brown topped the Bombers for the first time since 2017 and improved to 8-5 overall and 4-2 in conference play, while Ithaca fell to 8-4 and 5-1.

Frederick shot 7-for-10 from the floor and added four assists and two blocks for the Saints, while Ava McCann finished with 11 points and Olivia Middleton added 10 points and six rebounds.

The Bombers posted an early 17-12 lead over the Saints after the first 10 minutes of play, but the Saints quickly rallied to tie the game, 22-22, on a layup from Olivia Barringer with 4:51 to play in the second quarter. After trading the lead, the Saints posted a 33-30 advantage at halftime.

The Saints extended their lead to double digits and lead by a 12-point margin on a 3-pointer from Middleton with 1:19 remaining in the third. St. Lawrence maintained its double-digit lead down the stretch for the win.

"It was a great effort by the team tonight," said head coach Dan Roiger. "It was an intense, hard-fought game and we executed really well on the defensive end and were efficient with our offense. Mentally we were spot on for most of the game and I'm really happy for the players, they have worked hard."

Cassidy O'Malley led the Bombers with 16 points, 14 rebounds, two blocks and five steals, while Grace Cannon added 12 points, two blocks and five rebounds.

St. Lawrence shot 43.6 percent from the floor and 38.5 percent from 3-point range and held the Bombers to just 33.9 and 16.7, respectively.

The Saints will take on Skidmore tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m.
