Julia Mulhern scored a header goal on a pass from sophomore
Lauren Arthaud in the 88th minute to lift the St. Lawrence University women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over The College at Brockport in game one of the North Country Classic at Sandy MacAllaster Field on Friday afternoon.

St. Lawrence improved to 1-0-0 on the season, while Brockport fell to 0-1-0.

Isabel Silvia, who slipped a low shot past Golden Eagles' goalkeeper Kimberly Lubanski just from the top of the 18-yard box, giving the Saints a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute of play.

Brockport's Kiley Longin sent a high shot to the top left corner to tie the game up, 1-1, in the 62nd minute.

With both team's looking to avoid overtime, Arthaud sent a cross from the right, straight to Mulhern, who headed the ball past Lubanski on the left hand side, making it 2-1 Saints for the season-opening win.

Samantha Allen recorded two saves, while Lubanski finished with nine saves for the Golden Eagles.

The Saints outshot the Golden Eagles 26-10 and held an 11-3 shots on goal advantage. The Saints also took nine corner kicks to Brockport's four.

The Scarlet and Brown will return to Sandy MacAllaster Field to take on Johnson & Wales University in game two of the North Country Classic at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, August 31.
