As the renovations to historic Appleton Arena continue, Director of Athletics and Recreation
Bob Durocher provided an update on the project Monday afternoon.
"I am pleased with the recent progress that we have made. The men's team will play their first home game on October 18 against Providence College. The women's team will play Holy Cross on October 19 as their first home game in the renovated building," he said.
"While renovations are being worked on, both teams will be practicing at SUNY Canton. We are grateful for the partnership and willingness to host our teams displayed by Laurentian Randy Sieminski '87, the Director of Athletics. We plan to have ice by the beginning of October, and the teams will be back practicing in Appleton then.
"During the renovation, we have prioritized essential hockey operation spaces, allowing games to take place before the project is finished. Work will continue during the season, and completion is expected by the beginning of the calendar year with the public dedication set for February 8, 2020.
"The renovations will provide our Division I hockey programs with a superior athletic facility, and I look forward to the opening of our season," Durocher said.
