Isabel Silvia and sophomore
Kylie Murphy led the St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team with two goals and one assist each, but Rensselaer topped the Saints 14-10 in Liberty League action on Saturday afternoon in Troy, New York.
Silvia also led the Saints with four draw control wins, while
Nicole Stanton and
Alexandra LaMotte scored one goal and added one assist.
Tayler Kent,
Callie O'Neil,
Abigail Eberle and Jaime Allen also scored for the Scarlet and Brown.
Colby Hoffman grabbed a team-high three ground balls and caused three turnovers, while Kent,
Annie Vatcher and
Annie Wilson all picked up two ground balls.
Rensselaer doubled the Saints four first half goals to take an 8-4 lead after the first 30 minutes of play.
The Engineers scored back-to-back goals to increase their lead to six, before Allen netted her eighth goal of the season closing the gap to five. Murphy, Silvia, Eberle and Kent scored for the Saints down the stretch, but the Engineers first half lead was enough to take the win.
"The Saints played with grit, determination and were focused on our three goals we made pre game today," said head coach
Hannah Corkery Collins '11. "I'm proud of the team this season. I am proud of where the program is headed and excited to welcome Olga, Olivia, Tayler and Alex back next year as new alums and fans."
Abbey Salvon led the Engineers with three goals and one assist, while Michelle Bolger added two goals and an assist. Nora Molino recorded two goals, while Liz Brady added one goal and five assists and six other members of the RPI squad recorded one goal each. Bolger, Lauren Guiry and Erin Goodwin each caused two turnovers, while Becca De Rosa led the team with five ground balls.
Saints' goalkeeper
Olga Lukas made 13 saves between the pipes, while Aleena Milinski made eight saves for the Engineers.
The Engineers outshot the Saints 34-25 and held a 27-18 advantage in shots on goal. Rensselaer also picked up 27 ground balls to the Saints' 20.
St. Lawrence closed the 2019 season 4-12 overall and 2-8 in conference play, while Rensselaer improved to 7-5 and 4-5.
