David Jennings notched an unassisted goal to give the 19th-ranked St. Lawrence University men's lacrosse team a 7-6 advantage en route to an 11-6 Liberty League win over No. 18 Rensselaer on Tuesday afternoon at North Country Field.
Mike Donnelly led the Scarlet and Brown with four goals, while
Jack Hennessey tallied two goals and an assist. Senior captain
Nick Brindisi scored one goal and added two assists, while Jennings,
Mark Mahoney,
Ben Murtagh and
Brett Williams also scored for the Saints.
Zachary Prime dominated the faceoff dot for the Saints going 12-for-18 and picking up a team-best nine ground balls, while
Guthrie Little grabbed five ground balls and
Brian Gannon caused three turnovers.
Owen Putman and Lucas Bastarache gave the Engineers a quick 2-0 lead over the Saints, but Donnelly added his 38th goal of the season and first of the game, and Williams scored an unassisted tally to tie the game at two with 3:46 to play in the third. Donnelly and Putman each scored their second goals of the game to remain tied 3-3 after 15 minutes of play.
The Saints outscored the Engineers 3-1 in the second quarter to take a 6-4 lead at halftime.
Putman recorded back-to-back goals, including a man-up tally to tie the game once again at six. Jennings gave the Saints a one-goal advantage and four unanswered goals lifted the Saints to the win.

Mike Mahoney '93 P'22. I am very proud of this group. We are looking forward to carrying this momentum into the conference tournament starting Saturday."
Putman led the Engineers with four goals, while Bastarache and Cooper Urban each scored one. JT Kelly recorded two assists, while Keaton Ackermann and Garrett Volley each recorded three ground balls and Kelly and Nicki Phelps each caused one turnover.
Saints' goalkeeper
Alex Terry, who ranks fifth in Division III, made nine saves, picked up two ground balls and caused two turnovers. Brian Doughty made 11 saves for the Engineers.
St. Lawrence outshot Rensselaer 46-27 and held a 22-15 advantage in shots on goal. The Saints also picked up 31 ground balls to the Engineers' 17.
The Saints improved to 12-3 overall and 5-3 in Liberty League play, while the Engineers fell to 11-4 and 5-3.
St. Lawrence earned the No. 5 seed in the upcoming Liberty League Tournament and will travel to Ithaca, New York to take on the fourth-seeded Bombers on Saturday, April 27 at 4 p.m.
