Isabel Silvia scored a career-high four goals and added an assist to lead the St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team to a 13-6 non-conference win over SUNY Canton on Tuesday afternoon at North Country Field.
Silvia also grabbed six ground balls, caused three turnovers and won four draw controls for the Scarlet and Brown, while
Kylie Murphy added two goals, two assists and picked up three ground balls.
Emma Owens scored twice and assisted on another, while
Claudia Barbera netted two goals and
Jaime Allan recorded a goal and an assist.
Malia MacDonald recorded her first collegiate goal and
Liddy DeConto also scored in today's win.
Morgan Barlow recorded two assists and led the Saints with five draw control wins.
Silvia opened scoring, as the Saints posted an early 4-0 lead over the Roos. Silvia notched her sixth of the season with 1:43 to play and the Roos saw goals from Cecelia Neally and Devin Kelly in the first half, but the Saints remained in control and maintained a 5-2 lead at the half.
Both the Saints and the Roos traded three unanswered goals through the first ten minutes of the second half, but the Scarlet and Brown outscored SUNY Canton 5-1 down the stretch for the win.
"The Saints showed great ability at both ends of the field today," said head coach
Hannah Corkery Collins '11. "It was wonderful to see so many different people have excellent moments, not just on the score board. It's nice to have this win under our belts going into the weekend."
Molly Denny, Lindsey Ingram, Neally, Jessica Pele, Kelly and Maryclare Bowes all scored for the Roos, while Denny notched an assist and Kelly recorded a team-best three ground balls. Pele caused three turnovers and grabbed two ground balls.
Saints' goalkeeper
Olga Lukas grabbed five ground balls and made four saves, while Madison Leary recorded 11 saves for SUNY Canton.
St. Lawrence outshot the Roos 33-21 and held a 24-10 advantage in shots on goal. The Saints also picked up 25 ground balls to the Roos' 16 and won 15-of-21 draw controls.
The Saints improved to 4-8 on the season, while SUNY Canton fell to 10-3.
The Saints will return to Liberty League action and host Union on Friday, April 19 at 4 p.m.
