The St. Lawrence women's tennis team faced a tough test in the first Liberty League match of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling to defending conference champion Skidmore, 9-0, in the Newell Field House.
First-year
Christina Ryan won the most games for the Saints on the day, with 11 against Skidmore's Dea Koiava at No. 3. She pushed the first set to a tiebreaker but was eventually edged 6-7 (4) and Koiava came back strong after the first-set win for a 6-1 win for Skidmore in the second.
With the loss, the Saints drop to 1-1 on the season, as they had previously played dual match to finish the fall season when they posted a 6-3 win over Saint Michael's at home.
Skidmore remains unbeaten, both overall and in conference play, with the win.
