The St. Lawrence men's tennis team fell to Skidmore, 9-0, in its spring season opener in the Newell Field House on Saturday afternoon.
The Saints took two sets from the Thoroughbreds on the day, as
Leo Romanetz rebounded from a 2-6 loss in the first set for a win in the second by the same margin at No. 2 against Jack McClaren. At No. 3,
Spencer Whitmire was edged by Travis Leaf in a first-set tie break at No. 3, 6-7, and responded with a 6-4 win in the second set.
Both were eventually edged in the superbreaker. All other positions were 2-0 wins for the Thoroughbreds.
Romanetz and doubles partner
Quinn Bermingham played a close match at No. 1 doubles against Skidmore's JT Wynne and Suraj Mahtani, but the Thoroughbreds prevailed, 8-6.
