Reynolds Scores, Saints Edge Skidmore 1-0

Sophomore Robert Reynolds scored his fifth goal of the season to help lift the St. Lawrence University men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Skidmore on senior day at Sandy MacAllaster Field on Saturday afternoon.

Starting goalkeeper Ben Woelfinger earned his third shutout with two saves for his fourth collegiate win.

Junior Matthew Lawlor passed to Reynolds' from just outside the 18-yard box and Reynolds was able to find the left-hand corner of the net to put the Saints up 1-0 in the 10th minute of play.

"We're really proud of the team today; it was a complete team effort," head coach Mike Toshack said. "We've had some injuries and players that are banged up, but the boys were very resilient today. They played some very good soccer and got the goal and defensively we were very, very solid and pleased with the effort today."

Skidmore goalkeeper Sebastian Bosch made five saves.

St. Lawrence led the Thoroughbreds in shots 9-8, including a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal. Skidmore held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.

With the win, the Saints improved to 6-7-1 on the season and 3-4-1 in conference play, while the Thoroughbreds fell to 6-5-4 and 2-4-2.

St. Lawrence, now in sixth place in the conference standings, will travel to Hobart on Saturday, November 2 for their final Liberty League matchup of the season at 2 p.m.
