Naclerio scored 20 points to lead the St. Lawrence University men's basketball team to a 53-46 win over Bard in Liberty League play on Saturday afternoon in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York.
The Saints improved to 12-6 on the season and 9-2 in conference play, while Bard fell to 10-8 and 6-5 in the league.
With 20 points today and 1,381 career points, Naclerio moved into eighth place on the Saints' all-time scoring list, surpassing
Brady Condlin '15, who scored 1,339.
Ben Crawford recorded a team-best 19 rebounds, while
Chris Miner added three steals for the Saints.
After two quick lead changes to start the game, the Saints built and maintained a steady lead over the Raptors. Bard battled within three with 1:52 remaining, but the Saints led 27-21 at halftime.
Bard took their first lead since the opening minutes (31-30) at 16:26 of the second, but a 3-pointer from
Cale Sargent about three minutes later gave the Saints a 33-31 edge. Holding a single-digit spread, the Raptors brought the game within four with 4:22 to play, but the Saints held on and
Dom DeRegis shot 4-for-4 from the line to seal the win.
"The guys really had to work for today's win," said head coach
Chris Downs. "We're really proud of their effort and intensity and going 5-for-6 on the road is a great accomplishment. We're looking forward to being back at home next weekend."
Justyn Rogers led Bard with 13 points and seven rebounds, while Alijah Rue and David Runcie added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Scarlet and Brown shot 37.3% from the floor and held the Raptors to just 29.3% shooting.
St. Lawrence will return home to Burkman Gymnasium after three weekends on the road to face Hobart and RIT on February 1 and 2, respectively.
