Kingsbury '04 Selected to Manage Canadian Women's Hockey Team

Gina Kingsbury '04, who led the St. Lawrence University women's hockey team to pair of NCAA Frozen Four appearances and won two Olympic gold medals as a player for Team Canada (2006 and 2010), has been selected to manage the Canadian women's national team.

Kingsbury takes the reigns from Melody Davidson, who stepped down from the role to focus on scouting.

"Gina has a great mind for the game," said St. Lawrence head coach Chris Wells '92. "She was always looking to improve while she was here at SLU. That drive afforded her the opportunity to win two Olympic gold medals."

Kingsbury had spent the previous three years managing Canada's under-22 and under-18 teams. In her new role, she will be responsible for hiring coaches for the world championships and the Olympics and selecting the players for Canada's team in those tournaments.

"She loves all aspects of the game," said Wells. "She is very open-minded and looks to learn everywhere she goes. She's a great selection to lead the Canadian national team."

Kingsbury is one of several St. Lawrence alumnae to represent Canada in international competition. Hannah Miller '18 was the most recent St. Lawrence player to do so, playing for the Canadian under-22 team at the Nations Cup in Germany earlier this year.
