First-year pitcher Anthony Ferraro earned his first collegiate win and the St. Lawrence University baseball team snapped a lengthy winless drought with an 11-9 win over Union College in the first game of a Liberty League doubleheader at Shuttleworth Park in Amsterdam, New York.

The league-leading Dutchmen responded with a 15-1 to split Sunday's doubleheader and take 3-of-4 from the Saints in the series.

Three Saints finished 3-for-4 at the plate in game one including Evan Reichel, who had a game-high four RBI, and Brendon Frank, who scored three runs. Second baseman Jeremy Gerringer was the third to record a multi-hit game.

Game 1 –
The Saints scored four runs in both the first and second innings to open up an 8-1 lead before Union cut the deficit to one run with a six-run second inning of its own.

In the top of the fourth inning, Anthony Butler hit an RBI double to left center to score Brendon Frank and Reichel added an RBI single to right center later in the inning to bring Butler and give the Saints some breathing room with a 10-7 lead.

Gerringer scored on an RBI groundout by Joe DeGuardia in the top of the fifth for the team's 11^th run.

Union scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull within two at 11-9, but the Beau Yaremko was able to get out of the inning with back-to-back strikeouts to finish the game and pick up the save.

Yaremko relieved Ferraro in the final frame after the Saints' rookie went 4.1 innings in relief of starter Patrick Greenan. Ferraro allowed just two runs on four hits with three walks and a strikeout en route to the win.

The Saints outhit the Dutchmen 13-12 in the first game and played errorless baseball.

Game 2 –
The Union bats came alive in game two, as the Dutchmen took a 3-0 lead in to the bottom of the first inning and had built a 12-1 lead through four innings with the help of an eight-run fourth.

The Saints lone run of the game came on an RBI single up the middle by James Cronin in the top of the second inning that brought Evan O'Keeffe in to score. Cronin led the Saints with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate, while O'Keeffe recorded the lone extra-base hit of the game with a double to lead off the second.

Union outhit the Saints 21-7 in the win and recorded seven extra-base hits, all of which were doubles.

Starter Evan Reichel took the loss for St. Lawrence, as he gave up seven runs on 10 hits in 3.1 innings pitched with one walk and three strikeouts. Louis LaCivita, Charlie Pacilio, Loondy Lopez and Will Fellows each pitched in relief.
