Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

No. 7 Saints Dominate RPI on Senior Day

Senior captain Conor Healey scored a hat trick and added an assist for four points to lead the seventh-ranked St. Lawrence University men's lacrosse team topped RPI 16-4 in a Liberty League contest on senior day Saturday afternoon at North Country Field.

The Saints were led by Healey and junior Jordan Dow, who also recorded a hat trick. Jamie Kuppel added two goals, while Jon Fairbanks scored one goal and assisted on two others. Seven other members of the Saints squad each tallied one goal, including seniors Caleb Kane, Connor Brimley, Austin Nadeau and Ryan Brigham. Cooper Warden and Sam Sweeney each caused three turnovers for the Saints, while Steel White and Alex Terry picked up three ground balls.

St. Lawrence got an early jump on the Engineers as Alec Dietsch fed Kane a pass, who fired a shot, with the long pole past Union goaltender David Gibbs just 17 seconds into the game. Healey completed his hat trick by the start of the second quarter, netting his third goal with 11:12 left to play in the second. Healey is currently four points from becoming second on the St. Lawrence all time scoring list. Zachary Ettinghausen scored his first-career goal with just under ten minutes to play, while Steven Peterson tallied his seventh goal of the season to cap the Saints 11 goal run.

"It was a great day and a great celebration for our senior class. RPI is a very good team and we were fortunate enough to get a jump on them and continue with that momentum," said head coach Mike Mahoney. "It puts us in a good position, but there is a lot of lacrosse left to be played. I'm proud of this senior group and the whole team for how they showed up and played our best game of the year so far."

Breanainn McNeally, Aidan Denecke, Will Killeen and JT Kelly each scored one goal for RPI. David Gibbs and Parker Smith combined for eight saves in goal for the Engineers', while Terry made six saves for the Saints.

St. Lawrence outshot RPI 49-19 and controlled the faceoff circle going 16-7. The Saints moved to 13-1 on the season and 5-1 in conference play. RPI fell to 10-4 and 3-4.

After the game today St. Lawrence honored the graduating class of 18 seniors. The Saints will travel to Skidmore next Saturday to wrap up their regular season play.
