Conor Healey and
Jordan Dow each recorded a hat trick as the eighth-ranked St. Lawrence University men's lacrosse team held off a late rally from Vassar to earn a 14-8 win over the Brewers in Liberty League play Saturday afternoon in Poughkeepsie, New York.
Dow and Healey led the Saints' attack with three goals each, while
Cal Hynson netted two goals.
Jack Suominen and
David Jennings each tallied their second goals of the season.
Andrew Jarrett scored one goal and assisted on two others.
Jon Fairbanks,
Steven Peterson and
Jamie Kuppel scored the remaining three goals for the Saints.
The Saints opened up scoring just 30 seconds into the first quarter, but Chris Billups responded with a goal for the Brewers just two minutes later. Vassar's goal sparked a three-goal run for St. Lawrence. The Saints went on to score three goals in each of the remaining quarters, while the defensive line shut down the Brewers after they scored two goals late in the fourth.
St. Lawrence outshot Vassar 45-30 and picked up 35 ground balls to the Brewers 21.
Ryan Brigham went 12-for-18 in the faceoff circle and goaltender
Alex Terry made eight saves for the Saints.
Vassar was led by Billups
 who scored a hat trick and Sam Houston-Read
netted two goals while Brendan DiStasio, Liam Moriarty and Matthew Lowry each scored one goal.
With the win, the Saints moved to 11-1 on the season and 4-1 in league play, while Vassar dropped to 9-3, 2-2.
St. Lawrence travels to neighboring SUNY Potsdam on Tuesday to face the Bears in a non-conference game at 7 p.m.
