Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Edwards Makes Senior Night a Memorable One

Senior captain Kyle Edwards hit six 3-pointers, including three in the final five minutes of the game, to lead the St. Lawrence men's basketball team to an 88-77 win over Vassar in Liberty League play on Friday night at Burkman Gymnasium.

Prior to the game, the Saints' senior class was honored for their St. Lawrence careers, and Edwards made sure to make it a night all five members of the Class of 2017 (Sam Adler, Edwards, Kyle Kobis, Kieran Miller and Willie Zachery) will look back on with fond memories.

St. Lawrence led by as many as 14 points early in the second half, but Vassar cut that lead to three with less than five minutes to play. Edwards responded with a 3-pointer to give the Saints a 69-63 edge.

Two minutes later, with the lead down to two points, Edwards hit his fifth 3-pointer of the game to push the lead to 77-72. He put the game away a minute later, hitting his final 3-pointer from nearly the same spot, to give the Saints an 80-72 lead with just 1:01 remaining, and the Saints secured the with by going 8-for-8 from the free throw line down the stretch.

Edwards, already a member of the 1,000 point club, scored 28 points to move into 15th on the Saints' all-time scoring list, surpassing Greg Lewis '71 and Nick Burkhard '01. Junior Riley Naclerio contributed 21 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore Dom DeRegis added 12 points.

Sophomores Alex Seff and Mason Dyslin led the way for Vassar with 16 and 15 points, respectively. Junior Jesse Browne added 12.

The men's basketball team returns to action tomorrow at 4 p.m. against Bard at Burkman Gymnasium.
