Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

White Scores Twice; Saints Defeat Bard 5-0

The St. Lawrence University women's soccer team scored early and often as the Saints topped Bard 5-0 in a Liberty League contest Friday afternoon at Sandy MacAllaster Field. Kaleigh White scored two goals, while Nikkie Syrotiak, Megan Gannon and Julia Mulhern added one goal each.

In the seventh minute of play, Rachel Muskin fired a shot, which rebounded off the crossbar, White picked up the rebound to give the Saints a 1-0 lead early on.

Syrotiak recorded her first goal of the season after she lofted the ball past Bard goalkeeper Tessa Greenhalgh. Kira Murphy assisted on the play.

Emily Wade fed Gannon a pass up the middle of the field allowing Gannon to go one-on-one with the goaltender for the Saints third goal just before halftime.

White then one timed a pass from Katie Stames just under the cross bar for a 4-0 lead in the 52nd minute of play. Mulhern tacked on another goal for the Saints from outside the 15-yard box with just under 20 minutes remaining in regulation. 

"The team came out very determined and focused today," said head coach Franco Bari. "Our group defending was solid and we did a very good job of finishing our opportunities. I was pleased to see us keep a high tempo throughout the game."



Samantha Allen recorded two saves for her fourth shutout of the season, while Greenhalgh finished with nine saves for the Raptors.

St. Lawrence out shot Bard 29-3 and held a 14-2 shots on goal advantage. The Saints improved to 8-4 overall and 3-2 in Liberty League play, while the Raptors fell to 7-5 and 1-4.

The Saints face Vassar Saturday, Oct. 14th at 2 p.m.
