The Saints managed just four points in the opening quarter but rebounded to score 14 in the second period while limiting Clarkson (6-4, 1-0) to only seven points, giving St. Lawrence an 18-17 lead at the halftime break.
In the third quarter, Clarkson exploded for 24 points and added 17 more in the final period, shooting better than 60 percent from the field (18-for-29) in the second half to pull away.
The Saints hit the road for their next two games, facing Bard and Vassar this weekend in Liberty League games before returning home for a string of five out of six games at Burkman Gymnasium starting January 17 against Keuka.
