Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Naclerio's Double-Double Leads Saints Over RIT

Riley Naclerio recorded his fourth double-double of the season, and three of his teammates also recorded double-digit point totals to lead the St. Lawrence University men's basketball team to a 78-68 win over RIT on Friday night at Burkman Gymnasium.

The win is the fourth in a row for the Saints, who improved to 13-2 overall and remain perfect in Liberty League games with a 6-0 conference record.

Naclerio scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the double-double, and also contributed four assists and four blocked shots. Willie Zachery added 15 points and six assists, Dom DeRegis scored 14 points, and Ben Crawford added 13.

The Saints raced out to a 10-2 lead in the first few minutes of the game, but RIT came back, eventually taking their first lead, 17-15, on a 3-pointer by Jayme Rosser halfway through the first half. The game went back and forth for the remainder of the half, with six lead changes and four ties, but the Saints emerged with a 43-38 edge at the break, punctuated by a thundering dunk by Naclerio off a feed from Zachery in the final minute of the half.

St. Lawrence maintained the lead for the entire second half, though the Tigers did keep the game close; the Saints never led by more than 10, but RIT was unable to cut the lead to less than six points over the final 10 minutes.

Troy Pierre-Louis scored 17 points to lead RIT in scoring. AJ Horde added 16 points, and Justin Schneider scored 12 for the Tigers, who fell to 9-7, 3-4.

St. Lawrence tied a season high with a +14 rebounding edge (47-33), led by Naclerio's 13.

The Saints will close out the Liberty League weekend against Hobart at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
