A goal in the 22^nd minute held for the duration of Saturday's match, as Rensselaer edged the St. Lawrence men's soccer team 1-0 at East Campus Stadium in a Liberty League match in Troy, N.Y.

RPI applied pressure early against the Saints, outshooting the Scarlet and Brown 6-2 through the first 45 minutes and carrying a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Devon Baughen scored his first goal of the season for the Engineers off a volley 25 yards from goal that best sophomore netminder Mike Smith.

The Saints' Brendan McNamee had two chances to tie the game early in the second half, but was stopped by RPI's Matt LaBranche. The Newton, N.J. native recorded three of the Saints seven shots on goal.

St. Lawrence held a slight shot advantage in the second half and the team's finished with seven shots apiece. Mike Smith made six stops for the Saints, while LaBranche stopped all seven shots he faced for the Engineers.

The Saints will travel to RIT next weekend for their final regular season road game on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 3 p.m.
