Making its final regular-season appearance in Colgate's Starr Rink, the St. Lawrence women's hockey team tied the No. 10 Raiders, 1-1, on Friday afternoon in Hamilton.

The Saints (12-10-3, 6-5-2 ECAC), who entered the weekend coming off a 2-2 tie with Dartmouth at home last Saturday, took an early lead but Colgate (14-5-7, 6-2-5) answered late with a power play goal to force overtime.

"Another big point in the league," Head Coach Chris Wells said.  "Both teams could have won the game and had great chances to do it. Both goalies made saves to keep the teams tied."

First-year Grace Harrison, making her third straight start for the Saints between the pipes, was huge with time winding down for St. Lawrence when the Raiders really started to apply pressure and maintain a presence in their offensive zone. She finished with 16 saves for the Scarlet and Brown, while her counterpart Julia Vandyk made 23 stops for Colgate. Each netminder made one save in overtime.

The Saints struck first, as Kennedy Marchment put her team in front at the 13:45 mark of the opening frame with her eighth of the season. She and junior Brooke Webster cycled deep in the Colgate zone before Webster hit Alex Moore for a slapshot from the left point. Marchment redirected the Napanee, Ont. native's shot at the side of the net to beat Vandyk and give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

The Saints held on to the one-goal lead and dominated much of the play through the second and into the final period, but the Raiders' ninth-ranked power play took advantage of a St. Lawrence penalty midway through the third.

After more than a minute of work for the Saints top penalty kill unit, the Raiders won a battle along the end boards and Shae Labbe took a shot from the bottom of the circle that rang off the inside of the far pipe and bounced behind Harrison. The Auckland, New Zealand native scrambled to cover it, but Breanna Wilson-Bennett was there on the doorstep to knock it home and tie the game for the Raiders.

"Off to Cornell for another big two points," Wells added.

The Saints travel to Ithaca for a 3:00 p.m. contest with the Big Red at Lynah Rink tomorrow afternoon.
