Kimberly Merchant finished one place ahead of her sister Kathleen in the discus, posting a personal best in the event with a 39.01-meter throw, an improvement of 30 centimeters. She also posted a breakthrough throw in the javelin with a mark of 35.83 meter, a 3.92-meter improvement on her personal best to finish in fourth place.
